Marubeni Joins Electric Vehicle Projects in Chile

Marubeni Holding Ltda., a wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation, has concluded a Cooperation Agreement with The University of Chile to evaluate the infrastructure and technological issues in Electric Vehicle (EV) projects in Chile.

In Chile, Marubeni extends its business in a broad range of sectors. These areas include car distribution of Nissan, copper mining business, and water and wastewater. In EV business, Marubeni collaborates with manufacturers of quick battery charger, and invests on research and development projects of EV by Keio University.

In EV projects in Chile, Marubeni contributes to introduction of EV in wide range of functions with Marubeni’s sophisticated capabilities.

Chile is one of the most advanced countries in Central and South America in environmental policies. Also, in the world, Chile has the biggest production volume of copper and Lithium, which are used for raw material of EV production. The Chilean government has strong concerns in EV projects and high expectations to Marubeni’s role.
