Japan School of Doha opened in April 2009, and books were donated
Iwata Marubeni Corporation Doha Office Managing Director greeting participants
The Japan School of Doha was opened in April 2009 with the full cooperation of the Japanese and Qatari governments. Marubeni Corporation recently donated books to help to further improve the level of education in this school.
”My plan is to create a school system in which the children of Qatar receive a Japanese-style education, all in Japanese, with unified school programs from elementary school up into high school and university. Japan, Germany, England and France are the countries that have unique educational systems that cultivate young minds capable of thinking on their own, founded upon their own basic knowledge of science and technology.
Therefore, I desire to establish Japanese-style schools, characterized by their unified school programs, starting from elementary school in Qatar, and provide children with an opportunity to receive an education in Japanese. I admire Japan and have a deep affinity for things Japanese. I would like to emulate the Japanese model and mold the citizens of Qatar to be upstanding individuals.”
These are the words of the Emir of Qatar, HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. The Japan School of Doha was opened in April 2009, and as the name suggests, the school plans to provide the children of Qatar with a Japanese education in the future.
They were honored by the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry, HE Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Minister of Education and Higher Education, HE Saad bin Ibrahim Al-Mahmoud, and Minister of State for Energy and Industrial Affairs & Cabinet Member, HE Dr. Mohamed Saleh Al-Sada at the school’s opening ceremony in May, launching the school on its mission with their blessings.
The school is relatively small, and currently there is only a total of 15 students from first to ninth grade. However, all the students enjoy their school lives while energetically absorbing the culture of Qatar.
